Designed in the neoclassical style by Adolf Leonard van Gendt (1835–1901), this acoustically superior classical music venue has been home to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra since its grand opening in 1888. The Concertgebouw also draws many of the world's finest orchestras, conductors and soloists, and there's a second and more intimate recital hall, Kleine Zaal. Jazz and world music also have their place here. Plus free 12.30pm lunchtime concerts.
