Situated across from the Central Station and literally within earshot of both the Warmoesstraat and the Zeedijk, the NH Barbizon Palace serves as one of the Spanish chain's 13 Amsterdam's outlets. The 268-room complex started life as 17 very old houses, which in the 1980s the Golden Tulip transformed into one big and splashy hotel as part of efforts to give the area a lift. In the late 1990s the NH chain started its takeover of the 'Palace', with minimal changes to the 80s decor....
