Amsterdam's first establishment of the modern coffee era, Screaming Beans, served its debut espresso in 2007 (its former 9 Streets location in Hartenstraat), committed to sourcing, selecting and serving its own coffee (in conunction with Trabocca). Sandwiches and pastries are also on the menu, but the coffee's the thing, and it's serious and noticeably fine.
